Biology Clips

These clips from The Simpsons cartoons are intended for use by science teachers. They should be previewed before showing to ensure they are appropriate for the intended student audience. It is recommended that you download and archive each clip that you would like to use. To do this, right click on the clip and select “Save Video As…”. On a Mac, try control-click. They are a great way to liven up a slide presentation and should import into PowerPoint etc.. The posting and use of theses clips for educational purposes conforms with the fair use provisions of the copyright act.

Evolution (1:10) – A quick review of the history of evolution delays Homer from his appointment with the family on the couch.


Jesus Fish (0:26) – Flanders explains to Lisa how he used natural selection to create his Jesus Fish. However, he will only allow it to go so far.


Simpsons Gene (1:57) – Dr. Simpson explains to Lisa why she will not suffer the effects of the dreaded Simpsons gene that only affects males.


Fat Test (0:55) – Dr. Nick shows Homer and Bart how to test whether a food item has a lot of fat in it. He also shows his version of the food pyramid.


Heart Attack (1:27) – The effects of stress on heart function are shown while Homer talks to Mr. Burns. Homer dies but returns for the promise of some ham.


Pukahontas (1:24) – Barney convincingly describes the tragedy of alcoholism in his winning entry to the Springfield Film Festival.
